Trusting your judgement when online dating on is important

Your judgement and intuition are always going to vital to your well being and safety in your lifestyle and when you are online dating it is very important to make sure that you pay close attention to both of those instincts. Your well earned wisdom is very important in every walk of life, and that applies to online dating too.

If something doesn’t feel right it usually isn’t.

Meeting singles on is fun and exciting. However making sure that you feel comfortable and are dating or communicating with someone who is honest and has the right moral ethics as yourself is vital to your well being.

Assessing  truthfulness and honesty is a skill that needs to be honed in all stages of life. Trust your instincts and remember that you have to make sure your boundaries are in place.  Be cautious to agreeing to immediate requests to talk or chat on a private  email or mobile service. Remember your privacy and  anonymity  is an important safe guard with online dating so don’t be too hasty in agreeing to give that up. Don’t agree to sending money to any dater, no matter what they want it for. Anyone who is trying to get money out of you before you have even met them is usually a scammer so don’t fall for their excuses and lies .

If your dater that you are seeing or communicating with expects intimacy before you are ready to give it or is trying to make you do things that you are not comfortable with, you need to have your boundaries in place to tell them that it is not something you are happy with, at this stage. Do not be pressurised into doing things that you don’t want to do.

If the person that you are communicating with suddenly has a personal crisis and asks you to help with financial assistance and becomes increasingly aggressive and persistent , then it is time to end the communication as it will become increasingly obvious that you are being bullied into doing something that you should not be expected to do. Many scammers play on the emotional good nature of their victims .

Dating online is a fun experience and you should always feel comfortable. This advice all sounds obvious and common sense, however if we are empathetic we can get caught up in the moment and it is easy to get in over your head, especially if you are emotionally vulnerable. Always keep your feet on the ground though and take time to consider things so that you are not making hasty decisions. Never share bank details and private information, such as your mother’s maiden name or pets name, your home address, and passport or drivers licence details. Make sure you meet your date in person and if they hesitate in meeting personally ask what the delay is. Many scammers are not even in the same country and would not be keen to meet so if you meet your date you not only confirm that they are who they are and also that they look like their profile picture.

Online singles dating is exciting and interesting and a good way to meet singles who have common values and interests to yourself, however just as crossing the road needs your attention and common sense , so does online dating. Keep your wits about you and your boundaries secure.
